Born and raised in Leigh, John began his career at Leigh Spinners in 1985 as a Backing Plant Operative and spent most of the 1990s as Backing Plant Charge Hand.

Between 2001 and 2009, he steadily progressed from Backing Plant Manager to Commercial Manager and then Sales Director.

In 2011, he became the first Managing Director not to come from the Horrocks family, who founded the business in 1913. John has seen the business adapt to meet demand across the decades and spearheaded the move to artificial grass.

Fun fact – John is a keen instrumentalist – he owns several guitars, a piano, two ukuleles, a harmonica, a mandolin and a banjo! He has been married for over 30 years and has a daughter and granddaughter.
